Join Adamah Detroit and Jewish Historical Society of Michigan for a community education and volunteer event to help beautify and preserve the historical B’nai David cemetery and adjacent Marjorie Steet Garden. The event will include regular cemetery tours, garden activities, and volunteer opportunities to care for these spaces that hold deep historical and cultural significance. Whether you want to learn about the history of the cemetery or get your hands dirty with gardening tasks, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
Check-in will begin at 9:30am, allowing time for participants to settle in and get oriented. Garden tours and volunteer activities will start at 10am and continue until 12pm. Cemetery tours, led by David Goldman, will begin at 10:30am, running every half hour, with the final tour at 11:30am. Volunteer opportunities include litter cleanup, weeding garden beds and grave tops, painting fences and gates, and possibly seed planting.
All ages are welcome to attend. Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear that you don't mind getting dirty, as you’ll be participating in outdoor activities.
