Join us on the open water as we paddle the Huron River and enjoy the beauty of Proud Lake Recreation Area. Our downstream and upstream paddle will be through shallow water and is perfect for seasoned kayakers and new paddlers alike.

Each tandem kayak holds two paddling participants – perfect for a parent/child pair! This activity is geared toward paddlers ages 8 and up.

Additionally, canoes are available and suitable for 2 adults or 1 adult and 1 child who can paddle, with an additional 100lbs of coolers or kids in the middle. If you are bringing young children who cannot paddle, you will need two adults to paddle your canoe. Life vests are required for all and will be included in your registration.

We will begin with a review of kayak and canoe safety, enjoy paddling along the river, dive into some open swim time and picnic lunch, and then return back to our starting point. Please bring any sunscreen, water, and lunch you need. Additional summer snacks will be provided! There are bathrooms and on-site parking.

Sliding scale pricing:

Adults and children 8 and up: $18-36

Children age 7 and under: $5

Please note: The Recreation Passport is required for all Michigan state parks, trails, historic sites, boat launches, harbors, and more. The Heavner Canoe launch is located inside of the Proud Lake State Recreation Area and requires a Michigan Recreation Passport for entry. In the case of inclement weather, we will do our best to schedule a make-up date as soon as possible. You can choose to transfer your fee to the make-up date, receive a full refund, or convert your payment to a tax-deductible donation to Adamah.

The full cost for this program is $25 per paddler, however you can register and pay what you can afford on a sliding scale from $18 to $36.

I, the above Participant or parent/guardian of the above Participant, ACKNOWLEDGE that the Participant's choice to participate in the Program is knowing, voluntary, and made for their personal enjoyment. I hereby certify that the Participant is physically fit and capable of participating in this Program and that they do not suffer from any condition, sickness or disease that would impair their ability to participate in the Program or that presents any danger to their wellbeing as the result of such participation. I assume all the foregoing risks and fully accept personal responsibility for all expenses, medical or otherwise, following any such damages, injury, permanent disability or death.
